II. CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character Name: Coach
Canon: Left 4 Dead 2
Timeline: Within weeks of the end of Left 4 Dead 2
History: Coach was once a top athlete at his college. He was set to become a professional player when a massive knee injury sidelined him. He never recovered from it. His knee was wrecked to the point his professional career was dead before it got started. He managed to salvage his Physical Education degree to get a teaching job at a high school in Savannah, the city he grew up in. He stayed there, getting the moniker of "Coach" and teaching and reassuring the next big football player. It stayed this way until about a month after his 44th birthday. There was rumblings of this new virus, the Green Flu, that was being spread around. Coach was sure it was just another hysteria brought up, but that was before the infected became ravenous and bloodthirsty. Coach's first encounter with the infected was with a fellow teacher about two and a half weeks after the first reported infection in Philadelphia. It wasn't long after this incident that the whole city seemed to go to hell. When the call to evacuate the city, Coach made his way to the nearest Evac center, the Vannah Hotel in downtown. Along the way, he met up with a young woman form Cincinnati who had been there to work as a producer for the news. He met up with two more "youngin'" on the way to the top of the Vannah, as the fires began to gut the building. Fightin his way with these three other people, Coach spent the next two weeks with these people, becoming close to them in a way he hadn't had since his grandmother died.
The last Coach remembers was the helicopter that picked them up in New Orleans experiencing technical difficulties and crashing. He thought he had died, but now he finds himself in this world...
Personality: Coach is an eternal optimist, always willing to share a kind word and a supporting talk to those around him. He is more than willing to do what it takes to ensure a smile and will go out of his way to help others. He is a man of God but is a pragmatist. He is not a perfect saint: He is a bit of a glutton. He enjoys himself some Burger Tank, the preeminent fast food chain in his universe. He is a little touchy about his weight, often snapping back at those who poke fun at it with snark. However, even in these moments his better nature will win out...most of the time.
Retained Abilities: Coach is a regular human, with the same strengths and weaknesses of a 44 year old former athlete. He does have some skill with firearms, as his two weeks running from Zombies gave him a crash course in ballistics. He also learned how to fashion a molotov using alcohol.
